Ceramic artists are clay artists who make pottery, sculptures, utility items and artifacts. They glaze and fire their modeled clay work in a kiln to give it fine finish.
Job Profile
Ceramic artists
- Use clay to express their aesthetic creations- jharokhas, pots, wall pieces, jewellery etc.
- Prepare mixtures of clay and water, colors, and create textures with different materials
- Make by hand or the potter’s wheel and shaping tools to create pieces of their imagination
- Dry out their clay objects till these are somewhat dry like leather
- They paint and draw on the pieces and let them dry like stone
- Bake the objects in an open fire for several hours
- Glaze the dried and baked clay objects
- Fire the pieces in an open fire or kiln in the desired temperature
- May be involved in selling his produce
