Analysing the Trends
Witnessing the trends of last few years, ratio of number of applicants per seat for AILET is higher than that of CLAT. Hence, making it a tougher nut to crack.
According to 2016 trend, 39,468 candidates registered for CLAT 2016 to fill a total of 2,670 seats in BA LLB (Hons) course whereas 17,200 aspirants registered for AILET 2016 to fill a total of 83 seats.
Thus, in CLAT approximately 14 candidates compete for a seat in an NLU, whereas in AILET there are around 207 candidates competing for a seat in NLU, Delhi. Due to the shocking state of numbers, candidates who apply for AILET also apply for CLAT.
AILET is the result of NLU Delhi, going all the way different from other NLU’s and conducting its own exam. Whereas, CLAT is the entry path for all other NLU’s.

AILET Qualifying Marks
Cut off is the minimum marks that should be acquired for qualifying the examination round of AILET. AILET 2017 cut off for BA LLB was 60 marks for general category and 45 marks for SC/ST category.
As per the first merit list released by NLU Delhi, the General Category candidates whose scores are between 100-89 have been provided provisional admission. Thus, the minimum admission cutoff for General Category students is 89 marks. The minimum admission cutoff for SC category students is 72 marks.
Estimating from the last year, AILET 2018 cut off for BA.LLB is expected to be 40% marks for general category and 30% for SC/ST. For LL.M, Candidate should secure minimum of 50% of the marks in the written test to become eligible for admission. In case of SC/ST candidates it is 40%. Candidates aspiring for Ph.D. should secure minimum of 50% of the marks in the written test to qualify for submitting the research proposal. In case of SC/ST candidates it is 40%.
