With the new online program ‘Learning the Greek Language’, the Open University of Cyprus (OUC), in its capacity as a institution of education and culture, will be able to promote Hellenism around the world by using the new technology of distance learning.
This program will help keep expatriates closely connected to their mother tongue and will also enable them to take an active role in Greek society.
The first presentation of the program was held in London on Thursday, November 1 by the Rector of the Open University of Cyprus Professor Socrates Katsikas and Commissioner Photis Photiou. The event took place at the headquarters of the National Cyprus Federation of the United Kingdom in cooperation with Nepomak.
The aim of the program is to teach the Greek language to expatriate Cypriots and Greeks who were either not raised with Greek as a mother tongue or were not sufficiently taught the Greek language, and wish to become more fluent. The OUC program for expatriates will be taught by experienced teachers and linguists.
The first thematic section of the program, ‘Greek Language I’, will begin in the Spring semester of the current academic year 2018-2019. Interested parties may submit their applications for admission by
