New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has started the online application process for private candidates. The online applications for CBSE Board Exam 2020 for private candidates started on August 26, 2019. The candidates who have failed to qualify the March 2019 board examinations of class 10 and 12 can appear as private candidates. Direct link and how to apply is explained below for easy reference of the students.

Students to please note that the online application forms can be filled only up till September 30, 2019. This year, CBSE has started the application process for private candidates in the month of August itself. The notification is available on cbse.nic.in. Fees and summary of the same is provided below.

CBSE Board Exam 2020: Eligibility to apply as private candidate

  1. Those who have been declared FAIL in 2019 Board Examination conducted in February – March 2019.
  2. Students who were placed in COMPARTMENT in Main 2019 but did not appear in July 2019 CBSE Compartment examination or who was placed in Compartment in July 2019
  3. Students who have qualified the 2019 Main examination can also appear as private candidates to improve their performance in one or more subjects
  4. Candidates of 2014 or after who wish to appear in an Additional subject are also eligible to apply.

Apart from these basic criteria, there are women and physically handicapped students from Delhi NCT can also appear for CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2020 as private candidate. This facility, however, is not available for CBSE Class 10 Board Examinations. Candidates are advised to go through the notifications for CBSE 12 Board Exam (Private Candidates) and CBSE 10 Board Exam ( Private Candidates) here.

Important Note: Students who have failed practical examination but passed the theory paper are require to apply as private candidate for both Theory and practical papers.

CBSE Board Exam 2020: How to apply (Private Candidates)

  1. To apply, go to the activated link available on cbse.nic.in. Alternatively, click here to Apply for CBSE Board Exam 2020 as private candidate.
  2. For those who are appearing under Fail / Compartment / Improvement of Performance categories, the CBSE Board Exam roll number which was earlier allotted to students has to be used to fill the form. Details for fresh/ physically handicapped category candidates would have to be filled.
  3. To apply, simply click on the link and start the application. Enter your CBSE Board exam roll number, select the subject/s and pay the fees to complete the online application forms.

Students are again advised to go through the detailed notification available and also to fill the online application forms at the earliest. The last date to apply is September 30 and dates would not be extended. Examination would be conducted alongside regular candidates in February and March. CBSE would be releasing the admit card for the students online on cbse.nic.in which students must download.
