New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE kick started its annual examinations for academic session 2019-20 from February 15, 2020. Both CBSE 10th and 12th board examinations 2020 started from Saturday and would continue till end of March. About 30 lakh students are appearing for the CBSE 10th 12th Board Examination 2020. In an attempt to make the examination process more streamlined and secure, the board continues to adapt new methods and introduce various changes. Here is a list of changes introduced this year in the question paper, pattern, answer sheets and security guidelines.

CBSE Board Exam 2020: Changes introduced in question paper, answer sheets, etc.

  1. This year, CBSE has made an important change in the format of the CBSE Board question papers. CBSE Board examination question papers are bi-lingual and have questions in both English as well as in Hindi. The questions and instructions were printed in English and then a Hindi translation of the same followed. This year, however, the board has changed this format. In the question papers given to students on Saturday, the English questions were printed on the right hand side fold of the question paper while Hindi questions were on the left hand side. This format, students reported, was convenient as they could easily move from one question to another.
  2. For answer sheets, as was notified by the board before the examination, there was no significant changes. The boards had introduced a grid based OMR front page for the answer sheets for students. This year, however, due to an anomaly in the roll number being 8 digits instead of 7 digits, students would be required to make a special change in the answer sheets. This is further explained in details on how to fill roll number in CBSE Board Exam Answer Sheets.
  3. As for security guidelines, there are no specific changes for students. The schools, however, have to now validate security of the question papers multiple times from the time they are received to the time they are distributed to the students. Like in 2019, this year too, students would be required to witness the question paper seal before the same would be distributed to the students.
  4. Apart from these changes, the process for the CBSE board examination remains the same. Students would be given the additional 15 minutes of reading time and the gates to the examination hall would close at 10 am. No student is allowed entry beyond that time, under any circumstance.Schools have been instructed to follow the guidelines and ensure proper CCTV surveillance. All the authorities are in constant touch with the various Centre Superintendents assigned for the board duty. Also, CBSE would begin the evaluation work from February 20, which would be done simultaneously as the board progresses.
