In the Tier I examination, you will have 25 questions from reasoning section of 2 marks each making it a total of 50 marks for the section. For every wrong answer, you will have 0.50 marks deducted from your total marks. So, how to approach this section in the examination?

  • Go through the syllabus: This is the first thing that you should do before starting your actual preparation. You should go through the total syllabus and get an idea regarding topics from which questions will be asked from you. This is the primary thing you should do after applying for the examination
  • Go through the basics of each and every chapter: After you are done with the syllabus, the next thing you should do is to go through the basic things of every chapter mentioned in the syllabus so that you are confident of answering questions from any given chapter in the official syllabus if questions come in the examination
  • Prepare from previous year papers: Once you are done with the syllabus, the next important thing you should do is collect previous years papers as many possible and start solving them. This will give you an idea regarding the pattern and level of questions asked in the real examination and you can prepare accordingly after seeing your ability to solve these questions
  • Keep a time frame in your preparation: Set yourself a routine regarding your preparation for a particular section and the things that you want to finish on a given day. This will help you keep track of your preparation and this is systematic as well. It is beneficial if you have less time to prepare for an examination
  • Identify strong and weak areas: After practicing from previous year papers, you will get an idea regarding your strength and weakness in the section. You need to devote more time to your weak areas so that you can be perfect in them as well. This is important since you never know which area SSC will choose to give questions on in a section in a particular year paper
  • Practice as much as you can: Reasoning is traditionally the easiest section in any SSC examination and in order to score the maximum in this, you need to practice as much as possible so that you get the required confidence to apply what you have learnt. Mock tests are helpful tools for practice but make sure, you go for the ones which are at par with the real examination level

SSC CHSL is a very good opportunity coming your way and you should seize it both hands. With the 7th Pay Commission already there, salary is also good and compared to the stress and work you have to do, salary is more than enough. You get ample time to appear for other jobs as well.
