Merit-cum-means scholarship for Konkani speaking students from WKC

MANGALURU: Vishwa Konkani Student Scholarship Fund(VKSSF) set up by World Konkani Centre (WKC) has invited application for merit-cum-means scholarships 2017 from Konkani speaking students belonging to any caste and religion, seeking professional education in engineering and MBBS. Only candidates with Konkani as mother tongue may apply for this scholarship regardless of caste and religion. Mother tongue certificate should be provided while applying.

This scholarship is given to those candidates with above 70% in SSLC and in the core subjects in PUC with a ranking of 20,000 or below in CET, seeking admission to first year engineering/MBBS course in 2017. Candidates whose total family income is less than Rs 4.50 lakh per annum are eligible and references from family doctor and a chartered accountant should be provided in this regard. Students should be willing to sponsor two students after completion of studies.

On securing employment they should contribute 20 days in 2017-18 towards community service. Selected candidates will be awarded scholarship of Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 for engineering and MBBS aspirants respectively. Candidates fulfilling above criteria may apply online for through an online application module set up by WKC at www.vishwakonkani.org. Application module is opened for applying from June 10 and the module will be active till July 10.

Applications received in hardcopy will not be processed for VKSSF 2017. Candidates may login to the website for detailed instructions on preparation for the application process and terms and conditions of the scholarship programme. Instituted in 2010 as envisioned by corporate leader T V Mohandas Pai, VKSSF has successfully raised and awarded more than 14,000 scholarships to the tune of about Rs 15 crore. Every year, it awards more than 2000 scholarships.
